The 14th Amendment: Rand Is Right

Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul has a way of getting under people’s skin with his libertarian insistence that we actually pay attention to the Constitution.  First he dared to opine that some parts of the 1964 Civil Right Act – while commendable in their ideals  -- might have lacked constitutional authority.  But now, he’s going too far.  He’s saying that the Fourteenth Amendment does NOT grant citizenship to the American-born children of illegal aliens.

When times get tough in Texas, not-so-tough members of the State Legislature often turn to thoughts of gambling.  That’s what happened during another financial downturn and it may happen again unless the people stop it.  The reason is simple.  It’s a lot easier to find ways to bring in more state revenue than to do the right thing, which is to cut spending.

Leonard Pitts & the Race Baiters

I’ve just about had enough of Leonard Pitts.  And Eugene Robinson.  And just about everyone at MSNBC.  Pitts and people like him are constantly telling us that the Bottom Up movement known as “Tea Parties” is racist.  I’m tired hearing a bunch of liberals telling me what I am.  I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore.
